Hall County Training for the 2009 Homeless Count
Friday January 16, 2009 - Avita Community Partners will be organizing and hosting the Hall County Training for the 2009 Homeless Counts on Thursday, January 22, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. in the Board room of Administrative Office in Flowery Branch. The address is 4331 Thurmond Tanner Pkwy, Flowery Branch, GA 30542.
In partnership with the state Department of Community Affairs (DCA), Avita will conduct a count of homeless families and individuals in Hall County. Coordinators also will try to get a better picture of the county's homeless, by asking questions about the length and duration of a person's experience of homelessness and the numbers of children or other family members who are homeless or precariously housed the night of the count.
They'll also inquire about any disabling conditions a person might have, as well as other basic demographic information.
Understanding the full scope of homelessness as it exists in Hall County is key to our being able to respond better in ways most appropriate to the experiences of people right here in our local community.
"The more homeless individuals we can reach and assist in completing the survey the more potential funding it will bring to Hall County Providers," said Michelle Thompson, Residential Services Supervisor for Avita Community Partners.
